What's the new iWeb?

Real dissappointed to see my new suped up macbook pro with retina display no longer has iweb. Years of building a website and I can no longer maintain it. I still have my old machine so all my content is there. Is there something more cool and as easy to use or at least compatible to replace it? I do have this ridiculously fast new machine... What's the new cool Apple website creator? (Although if iTunes 11 is an indication of the "new" Apple- I may not want it.) I recently made the move from iMovie to FCPX so I can learn new things but I'd rather not need to learn html. Anyone know why they ousted it? It was such a good program... sad.

New Macs have not shipped with iWeb for a long time now - they ship with iLife 11, but only the iMovie, iPhoto and GarageBand part, as iWeb and iDVD have not been supported by Apple for a long time and they no longer sell iLife in stores any longer.

This does not mean that you can't continue to update your websites using iWeb on your new Mac. Of course you can.

If you have the installation discs for your old Mac, then all you need to do is re-install iWeb from the installation discs onto your new, or you can use the migration assistant.

Don't know which version you have - iWeb 08 or 09? If you have iWeb 08, then it might be worth updrading to iWeb 09 as this is more compatible with Mountain Lion - there have been a few problems reported with iWeb 08 and Mountain Lion.

Apple no longer sells iWeb, so if you want a copy of iWeb 09, you'll have to go to Amazon and get the boxed set of either iLife 09 or iLife 11 - both contain iWeb 09 and you can install it that way.

You don't need to find an alternative as you can still install and use iWeb on your new Mac - no need to look for anything else.

I'm use iWeb with a Macbook Pro Retina while I'm on the road.

iWeb works best under Snow Leopard although, as long as you have V 3.0.4, it works OK when using Lion/Mountain Lion...

You can keep using iWeb until its replacement is available....

I loaded iWeb onto my new 2.9GHz Mac which is running Mountain Lion & have actually been having problems with work saving. I can work for a couple of hours, saving every few minutes along the way, yet if I quit iWeb & reopen the page I have just done, only a fraction of the work appears. It's quite random as to what it keeps & what it doesn't. I can have a day when it saves almost eveything, then if I add new stuff a few days later, it might decide to keep only half the alterations!!

I was also advised to look at the "iWeb for Musicians" page but it doesn't seem to cover that point. It was suggested that there could be a software conflict but when I loaded iWeb on, a few weeks ago, my Mac was brand new & I hadn't put any other software on at that time. I can only assume that iWeb isn't completely compatible with Mountain Lion (& not just regarding the publishing issues mentioned in the above site).

I hope the iWeb replacement comes out soon as I'm desparate to get my website up & running.

What's the new iWeb?
