My Mailbox is not showing messages written and receivers are not receiving.

I sent a message with a 3.8Mb file attached and the sent line has the spinning circle showing it is in process for two days now!

How do I stop it and edit the mail causing the problem?

Helllpppp???

iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.5)
