Will Java hurt my Mac?
Hi! I just read an article in Sweden's biggest newspaper that Java might harm your computer.
Does this affect Macs too? If yes, how do I turn Java off?
Thanks!

Java for Macs was "automatically" Disabled on Macs using Mountain Lion in one of the recent ML software Updates. Java is considered to be a serious security risk because much Malware uses it to corrupt Macs and PC's. So if you have a fully "Updated" version of Mountain Lion on your Mac, you do not have to worry.
But I'm still running Snow Leapord, should I turn Java off in it,
Was given advice from apple store to keep snow leapord, thats why I never updated to Mountain Lion
I have seen nothing to indicate that the vulnerability in Java is specific only to certain operating system versions, so I would recommend disabling Java on any computer, regardless of OS, when not needed.
Regards.
AFAIK, the latest threat only affects Java 7 put out by Oracle. See http://www.intego.com/mac-security-blog/java-vulnerability-affects-some-mac-user s/ for details.
