Apple Remote Desktop reports take hours to complete

I work at a medium-size university, overseeing the macintosh labs.

ARD has been a lifesaver for me, but the reports take hours to finish, even when only a few pieces of information have been requested.

The best way of getting even a simple report has been to leave the task running overnight.

Anyone else have this problem?
