How do I permanently remove printer drivers including the updater?

My computes keeps bugging me about HP drivers that need to be updated. I do not have any HP hardware and will not have any HP hardware in the future.

I already tried the HP manual driver removal twice: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&dlc=en&docname=c01507389&lang= en&lc=en&product=3689344&rule=1376

The HP driver keeps wanting to update itself. I put it on the ignore list, but even then it will continue nagging me when a new version is ready from HP.

How do I prevent drivers (or software) wanting to update? How do I completely remove this driver/update from my computer?

Hi,

First make sure you have no HP printers listed under Print & Scan, if there are any remove them and check for any change.

If the same persists, uninstall its drivers by following Mac OS X 10.6, 10.7, and 10.8 > I used Apple Software Updates to install the printer software below:

Thank you for your repy.

It did not resolve the issue. I did now remove all de HP related files in /Library/Printers/PDDs/Contents/Resources

The hp folder in printers was earlier already removed.

Do I still need to remove a file some where that tells the mac to search for HP updates?

Do check the InstalledPrinters.plist (open it in TextEdit) and delete it if the HP printers are listed.

There were still two hp printers listed there while the list in system preferences printers had no hp's listed anymore.

Removed them, saved the file. Restarted the mac. Scanned for software updates and got the message:

HP printer software update version 2.13 77.2MB

So no banana's yet.

Also, delete /Library/Updates/ProductMetadata.plist, restart, and see if that fixes the issue.

If the same still persists, I would also suggest resetting the printing system, then you will need to re-add your existing printer and check if that may resolve the issue:
