Why doesn't my iMac recognize Turbo Tax 2013 program?
I have installed turbo tax on this same iMac the last three years without incident, but when I tried to install 2013, the iMac does not even allow me to install it.
iMac, Mac OS X (10.5.8)

As I can see, TurboTax 2013 requires Mac OS X 10.6.8 with a 64-bit processor > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3696 If you have a 64-bit processor and your info is right, you have to upgrade to Snow Leopard > http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard

Thank you. Yes, I have a 64-bit processor, so an upgrade to my OS may be all I need. I will give that a try. Do I need to go to Snow Leopard, or can I jump up to Mountain Lion?
In your case, you will have to upgrade to Snow Leopard first, because you have to purchase Mountain Lion in the App Store, available in Mac OS X 10.6.8 and newer.
The Mac OS X disc contains Mac OS X 10.6.3, so you will have to open > Software Update to install 10.6.8. Also, make a Time Machine backup and/or a clone with Carbon Copy Cloner before upgrading.
See if your computer is compatible with Mountain Lion > http://www.apple.com/osx/specs
