I purchased a used I Pad and cannot access facetime. I have email address and Apple password but nothign happens. please advise

I purchased a 3rd generation I Pad ios6.0.1. I have been unable to use facetime. I put in email and then apple password, hit next and it takes me back to the same screen. I also have not been about to use I think it is messaging. I have been online, purchased music from I-Tunes, can do email. No luck with facetime. Please advise. I am new to using a tablet.

If you have purchased a used ipad, and you think there may be a possibility of previous owners info on it, then restore it as new. Your issue can probably be resolved without that, but I would recommend it.

Once restored as new, you can set up your ipad with all of your own info, and own apple id for use with itunes store, facetime, messages and icloud.

I put on set automatically and it shows on but a circle is going round and round at the time zone box. Under that it says setting the time zone automatically requires turning on Location services which I did not set when setting up. I don't know why that circle just keeps going round and round about 5 minutes now. Any ideas?
