How to combine separate H264 and AC3 files in a Compressor (3.4) Job Pane.

How to combine separate H264 and AC3 files in a Compressor (3.4) Job Pane.

The following screenshot was taken from an Apple Compressor 4.0 Features website, and the wording implies Compressor 4 can burn a DVD containing video along with Dolby Digital 5.1 surround channels.

Has anyone successfully done this with Compressor 4?

I am using Final Cut Studio 2 (FCP 7.0.2, Compressor 3.5.4, Soundtrack 3.0.1) on an Intel iMac with OS 10.6.3, and have tried to accomplish the same objectives using Compressor 3. Can it be done with what I have now, .........or am I beating my head against the reality of an upgrade?

I have tried repeatedly to load into the my Compressor Job pane a BluRay H264 video file (no audio) linked together with an AC3 file containing 5.1 audio channels.

According to the Compressor 3 Help manual, only one file can be dragged into the Job Pane thumbnail (small square with a down arrow). Dragging additional files will remove any of the previous files dragged into this area.

Has anyone developed a workaround for this restriction, and been able to link a BluRay H264 setting with a Dolby Digital 5.0 Auto setting?

And if Yes, proceeded to burn a Blu Ray disc ?

I’m trying to get the beautiful 1920x1080 video and surround sound channels from my new Panasonic AVCHD camcorder onto a BluRay disc !

There must be some 3rd party software that will work with Snow Leopard 10.6.3 to get this done!

I'm very hesitant to move up to 10.6.8 which has been rumored to cause issues with older software. Also, some trial software (Encore) also requires the pre-Lion upgrades like 10.6.8 Not sure I want to risk what is working well right now.

Thanks in Advance, BoBo
