Time Machine with 2 HD

I have an iMac MID 2011 with Mountain Lion 10.8.2 .

An external HD is connected to the iMac via USB , this HD is only for TIme Machine .

I know that I can add another external HD also to Time Machine .

Can I add it via my home WIFI without problems ?

Thanks.

You should be able to, but the backups will be slower. I'm using two network drives, but they are attached by ethernet.

Thank you.

I have now only one External HD attached via USB ,

The HD is a new Samsung G3 1.5TB (Seagate)

I don't need to do anything at all , When I'm turning off my iMac , the EXT HD shuts itself down.

My question regards when my iMac goes to Sleep ...

Thanks.

I have my two Time Machine externals (both 2GB - one FireWire and one Thunderbolt) physically connected to my machine. They, of course, alternate in hourly backups. I'm not sure why your drive would 'shut down'? How is it connected to your Mac? A USB hub on a router? If so, I wouldn't think that's a good idea...

I glanced through the other posts but couldn't quite figure out your configuration... and have no idea why an external drive, directly connected to your Mac, would shut down. When your Mac is sleeping, now, the TM backups will just stop until you reawake the machine...
