Iphone to ipod touch backup

I transfered my iphone 4s data (apps) to my daughter's ipod touch 4th gen. It went seemlessly except I now have approximately 2g of something marked "other". The "other" is not apps, music, or photos. What is "other" and how can I get rid of it to free up space?

An "other" that large usually indicates that the "other" includes corrupted files. Usually restoring from backup eliminated the corrupted files. However, sometimes restoring to factory settings/new iPod is required.
