Startup items priority

Under utilities, system information app, software, startup items, only Trend-Micro is listed, and prioritized as "late." I'd like to start it earlier. Can anyone tell me how?

Sawat dee, kah. Kop Kuhn mach!

I did change the word "late" to "early" (didn't know what I was doing), but had to change the security clearances by adding myself. iCoreServices let me change it, but then wouldn't allow Trend Micro to start, so I had to remove myself. Works again, at least.

So, are you in Krungthep? Wish I were!

Thanks again!

Try editing the file this way

1. Open a finder window showing the StartupParameters.plist. Click on it once and make a copy of it. Save the copy to your Desktop.

2. Open Terminal.app, and type

sudo vi

type a space after 'vi'. Do NOT press 'return'.

3. Drag the StartupParameters.plist icon (the original one, not the the copy) from the Finder window and drop it on the Terminal window. Press 'return' on your keyboard.

You'll be asked for your Admin password which will be invisible when you type it, so type carefully.

4. The terminal screen will now change to show you the contents of the plist file. Press 'i' on you keyboard (this allows you to insert or edit the file), then use the keys to move to the word 'late'. Replace it with the word 'early'.

5. Press the 'esc' on your keyboard.

6. Type

:wq

[that's a colon ( = shift + ; ], 'w' and 'q'], and hit 'return'.

If you did all that correctly you should get back to the normal Terminal prompt.

7. Restart the mac.

8. Test and run the app to see if it behaves in the way you want. If it doesn't, you can reverse everything you just did by deleting the 'StartupParameters.plist' file, then moving the copy you made in Step 1 from your Desktop to the folder that the original file was in. Restart the mac again and it will be back to the way it was before.

โชคดีครับ 🙂
