I have a prepaid debit card and I ran out of money and now I can't download stuff off App Store

The question is "how do you set your itunes account back to a free account after using a prepaid card?" The web site for itunes account settings doesn't support removal of the pre-paid card or credit card #. It allows entering a new card only. I regret using the gift card/prepaid card now. I can't update or download any free apps. There needs to be an option in the accounts page to set the "Payment Information" to NONE.

I can't be the only person to use a free account, then add a giftcard, then try to go back to a free account.

Does anyone have a solution?
