Yeah I was planning on using Ubuntu because it is probable the most reliable if I'm going to be dual booting.
Just follow the steps of the links I gave you on my first reply. As you are using Snow Leopard, you won't have any problem with rEFIt to start into Ubuntu when you turn on the MacBook Pro
Did you not see? I am running Mountain Lion.
On your product information, you say that you have Snow Leopard, so replace it.
rEFIt is a so old application, so you can use Boot Runner to replace to rEFIt
