ipod 5g or ipad mini

Dont know if this is the right place to ask,but here it is. Should I get myself ipod touch or the ipad mini? Heres a few things to consider.. I'm in India and the ipod is over priced compared to Singapore. (one of my friends is going there) i'm willing to spend about $400(rs22000) or so.. I would also like to add that i have no iOS devices. I dont need cellular connectivity for ipad as i can tether from my cell. The thing that is drawing me to ipod is that I have extensive music collection and its small size(i like to listen to music when i run sometimes). I'd also like inputs from ipad mini user about how they use it in day to day life. Ps- wifi is available in most of the places i visit frequently.
