Hi,
I can only find information on deleting mails in icloud. I don't want to buy more storage, I just want to clear space in icloud and get the emails back out and onto an external hard drive for storage.
How do I do it?

In the Mail application just drag them to any mailbox listed under 'On My Mac'.

Thanks for your message - what I forgot to mention is that these are mails that are in the archive - so they are no longer on my mac - can I get them out again?

Do you mean they are in the Archive folder that is listed under 'iCloud'? Then they are on iCloud and you can download them exactly as I specified.
