App store broken on iPhone 5

Since this morning, App Store on my new iPhone 5 is only returning results on Genius and Updates. All the other screens return blank. This is on cellular and wifi networks. Everything else on my phone appears to be connecting and syncing fine.


is there a problem at Apple's end or is the problem with my App Store app on my phone?

Double tap Home button, delete App Store from multitask-bar.

Do a reset (Hold Sleep/Wake and Home buttons about 10 secs or more till Apple logo appears, ignore the Slide to Power Off that appears)

Note: You will not lose any data.

I contacted Apple who told me I'd need to speak to one of their tech advisors. After trying loads of things, I did a full restore of the phone followed by a restore from backup. This seems to have solved the problem. BUT, I don't know why it happened and to be honest I'm a bit disappointed as a newcomer to Apple that the flakiness you might associate with Microsoft is now eating into Apple.
