Jan 12, 2013 11:06 AM in response to eleventhreeby Jeff Nitschke,It runs pretty good off of the external hard drive. I ran mine this way up until just this last fall when I bought a new Mac Mini. And, now my nephews are still using it this way.

Jan 12, 2013 12:12 PM in response to Jeff Nitschkeby eleventhree,I've checked the instructions (thanks again).
yet I still have a problem, because I can't get to the menu it shows (i.e.: selection of a disk to install Lion/partition it/install).
when I start the iMac, I can only start from the install disk, and then I can only install the operative system on the external disk, without partitioning it.
do you think it will work anyway?
thanks
