How can I be sure buying a MacAir is not stolen
I have the serial number
MacBook Air, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8)
you can't. Don't buy it if you even suspect it might be stolen.

If you and the seller are together, physically, ask the seller to lookup his Apple Support Profile for both of you, and see if the unit is registered to him.

Sounds like a great idea.
I just helped a friend purchase and setup her MBAir yesterday, and don't remember putting an "Profile" information in during the setup.
How do you do look up a Profile?
