The cheapest and best way to buy a Mac is through the Apple Special Deals page. The warranty is exactly the same as a new Mac. The laptop you get is very likely to appear brand new and completely unused, the only difference between it and a brand new Mac is that it may not come in a white box.

Shipping is free. $849 + sales tax.

What are you kidding me! There is NO difference between a Mac/OS X and a PC/Windows. They both do the exact same thing in the same way and they use the EXACT SAME HARDWARE. Although a PC is easier to use and it has been my experience that PCs Just Work much more then Mac's do.

Sell your Dell while it's still worth something. I use a Windows PC from time to time and it's like stepping back in time about two decades.

I suggest that you get yourself an iPad without the retina display AND some external hard drives to store your data. For what you do, you dont really need a laptop or a desktop. An iPad would do just fine. And is also cheaper.

If you do get yourself an iPad, you'll enter the world of iTunes U, Music Festivals and a world where computers dont really have much of a say. Its a peek into the future if you so want it.
