Firefox hangs immediately after loading facebook

This started only a few days ago (January 10th, 2013).
I have the latest Firefox and Flash. I'm running 10.6.8 on my macbook pro

So if I navigate to www.facebook.com, the page briefly loads, then beachballs (not responding) every time. I can navigate directly to any other facebook page - a friend, event, etc. - and it works perfectly fine. The chat also works when I do this.

Isn't that weird, you guys?

I did this while watching the activity monitor, and the only thing that was out of the ordinary was dashboard client was quite busy. So I used terminal to kill dashboard client, but the problem remains. Other than that, the activity monitor is normal for this operation.

Any ideas? Or is this just a situation where you go to the doctor and say "doctor, my arm hurts when I move it like that" and the doctor says "so don't move it like that."

Ok let's try to delete the Firefox application caches... First, quit Firefox. Then, in the Apple Menu and click the Go button, and look for Library. A list of folders will appear, look for the one that says "Caches" click it. Then you should see a folder named "Firefox" and drag it into the trash. Restart Firefox and visit Facebook.

The firefox Cache folder will be rebuilt when you re-launch Firefox.

Let me know how that works for you.

P.S. Which Firefox version your are running? The latest release is version 18.

Me too! It's been happening to me for the past few days already, although intermittently. I always have to force quit firefox. Sometimes when I load the Facebook homepage it beachballs and one time when I left it like that for a while, it stopped hanging and a window popped out saying that it's because of an unresponsive script from "fbcdn.net"

What does this mean?

hi,

installing Bangla will not help u at all unless u have some Bangla content on facebook, which was causing my problem. there was something new about the fonts with apple (pls dont ask anyrhing more, this is at least what i understood), so old Bangla fonts were not working and it caused my browsers (safari, chrome, firefox) to crash whenever i openned a website which had contents in Bangla. other websites were working fine. so after i installed the new Bangla fonts for mac, it worked smoothly.

i'm just suggesting, in ur facebook page, if u have friends from different parts of the world and they are sharing contents on their native language, and if that font is not avaiable on ur mac, this may cause the crush on facebook. so if u know about any specific language, install the fonts for that one.

i hope this will help.
