how do i open PDF files in ipad?

How did the pdf file get onto the iPad? If it is in your email - tap on the attachment in the email and it should open. Otherwise provide some details as to what is really going on.

Have you got iBooks app ?

This is what I use to open and read PDF files using my iPad3.

My source of PDF files are emails.

I tap on them and keep my fingers pressed.

A pop up appears, and I select iBooks to start reading the PDF file.
