Safari not playing ecard music

I have a MBP with 10.8.2 installed and Safari v 6.0.2, and I have all the latest updates.

Here's my problem.

My wife's Intel Core Duo iMac, with 10.6.8 installed and Safari 5.1.7, is able to listen to music on ecards on the LLerrah.com website with Safari. My MBP will not play this music. I've also tried it using Firefox on my MBP and it won't play there either. I've also tried it in my two other other accounts and it will not play in those either. Just to make sure, I have trashed my com.apple.safari.plist file, and emptied the Safari cache. Youtube and other online videos play with no problems.

This is making me think it is a system wide issue, so using Onyx I emptied the System and User caches.

I have Flip4Mac 3.0 installed, along with the latest Flash Player. I have Java disabled on both computers so I'm pretty sure that's not it. I have the Quicktime plugin installed on both computers. I also have Shockwave and Silverlight installed on both computers. I've compared the plugins on the iMac to the plugins on my MBP and they are very close to being the same.

I've checked LLerrah's website support and they are no help. I've googled for answers and found nothing. I'm at a loss.

What am I overlooking? Your help is appreciated.

Thanks for the help, Linc!

This is the reason why I love this forum. I spent the better part of a day yestarday trying to fix this and here I get the answer in a few minutes. Thank you!

I tried numerous other ecard websites and they all played fine, no problems. This website, Llerrah, is the only one that wouldn't play. I guess Apple is trying to put playing midi files within the brwoser into the past, for some reason.

Now that I know it's a midi thing I googled and found a few other people having the same problem. Some were highly irratated with Apple for removing the midi component in the QuickTime Plugin, but I guess unless there is a tidal wave of complaints Apple will not reverse itself.

This is a HUGE problem for we music educators who rely on great websites like www.good-ear.com and www.practicesightreading.com that use midi files for in-browser music as the heart of what they do. Apple, this is a real problem for me!! I now have 2 of my most useful sites rendered useless in MacOS X 10.8.

Please, consider returning this functionality to the operating system soon.
