Q: my receiver says that there is a signal but no sound using optical audio cable, sound was cutting in and out on netflix unplugged and reinserted connection, no doesn't work at all, but sound is good when usin hdmi through tv speakers instead, could this j

I use Optical and find it very delecate   Check you cable is working (red light at receiving end on tip of cable) and check it is inserted correctly.  I lost mine yesterday after moving the soundbar slightly and the third 'wiggle' of the cable had audio again.

    thanks i bought a new cable, a bit better quality of one and works fine now, seemed wierd as it showed signal on receiver and light through the end, anyways works, technology is wonderful when it works LOL
