Q: Artist View Artwork

i am having the same problem, iTunes 11 just assume all the Artwork i had selected on the older iTunes 10, but now if you want to change it it is over

i got even an insolite case, i bought a new version (Japan) of a Diamond Head CD, i deleted the older version in iTunes and ripped the new one to the library. The Artist Artwork was the one from this CD and now i got a BLANK artwork

how i can change it? or define a new one?

i guess that was one more new Apple bug on this re-vamp iTunes

    Hi,

You can still manually add artwork as it was in prior version; i.e. select all song from an album and then right click on your selection, select get info, in the artwork section drag the image you want to use and/or delete any previous one.

I don't think that will change the Artist Thumbnail. Although I do not know how to change it or even if you can

Indeed, iTunes doesn't gives you any way to modify which of your artwork will be used for custom genre or artist; it simply picking one from yours artworks.

If like in that case it left it blank, I would review each song to see if they do have an artwork define (one song may miss an artwork but it will still show the album artwork).

    - just now i tried to clean all the artwork from this artist (Diamond Head)

    - then i closed iTunes

    - then re-open iTunes, and i just selected all the songs from Diamond Head and with Get Info i upload the same cover to all songs.

    - again i got out from iTunes

    - re-open again and the same result as before , no artwork on the Artist

i think is a miss from Apple to not allowed us to select the desired artwork cover on the Artist or Genres

    Hi,

I agree, it would be great to have the possibility to change this artist/genre artwork manually.  I got over a thousand of artist and found the same issue you do on only one of them.

I'll try to find the reason and a fix and post it here.

so ... i found one possible solution, i am not fully happy with it but i will survive without harm

i try out digging in the Library file, but i was not able to find anything that would repair it or change it.

this will apply only for the missing cover from Diamond Head (my case):

    - i tried to delete all the covers from all songs (Diamond Head), then i quited iTunes, then run it again and do the covers again - DID NOT WORK OUT.

    - 2nd try, i change the artist name to "Diamond Head#" and directly i got the problem solved. then i changed the name back to "Diamond Head" and the artwork is there. PROBLEM 1 SOLVED . the not so nice feature is that the coverart is selected by iTunes automaticaly and it choses the 1st CD cover of the related artist.

PROBLEM 2 - i would like to select myself which cover will be assigned to each artist, as the previous versions of iTunes allowed. i still did not find solution

So you helped me to solve an issue I wasn't knowing I had before your post.    Thanks for this.

Has for the possibility of selecting artist artwork, I guess your only option will be to send this as a feedback to Apple (http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunesapp.html).

The same issue was raised before the artwork iTunes used for Genre.  I recall that some have found a way to change these group artwork but their method was only valid until an iTunes update.

Just make one of your albums a higher star rating. Then close iTunes and reopen. The artwork will be there.
