my USB ipod charger is not working on my computer

when i connect my usb charget on my computer there is nothing that appears. it doesnt not charge or anything. but i can go to itunes on my computer but i cannot sync things into my Ipod. I have no idea wat is the problem. If you have any ideas please reply that would be nice thanks.🙂
