installing safari update cannot complete because Safari app is running how do i stop the Safari app ???

We can't complete update installation of Safari because it says Safari is running. We have xed out of Safari and don't know what else to do. Thanks

New User. How do we close Safari to complete the install? Also, how do increase the all font sizes?

iMac (27-inch Mid 2011), OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)

"x-ing out of Safari" just closes the window with the x on it (unlike in Windoze). To quit Safari us "Quit" in the Safari menu, or command-q.
