I am planning on buying a IMAC so will I have to replace all my software that is on my G4 running 10.5.8 ?

Not ALL of your software, but likely some of it. Right click on an application and click "Get Info." Next to "Kind:" if it says Power PC, it will not work on a new iMac.
Thanks I did check some and they were apps or unaversal. My main ones are photoshop, canvas and Macripper
