What is the bluetooth module - I think I need it to have a wireless keyboard

Bluetooth is built in; you can access it via System Preferences to pair the keyboard, etc.

What year is your iMac? If you don't see a Bluetooth Pane in System Prefs, yours may not have it built in (most do, but there are some models that do not),

babowa thank you for your input. I bought this Imac second hand about a week ago. It is a massive lump with 32gb of ram and 8 cores and is about 2 years old I am running Mac OS Lion 10.7 - But I am new to Apple.

I keep getting a USB warning and thought I would move to wireless since the wired mouse and keyboard are too short.

BUT no sign of a bluetooth module, and like a newby I dont know what to do next.

    thank you

Well, it should have Bluetooth, but, just to make sure:

Go to the Apple and click on About this Mac.

    Click on More Info.

    Click on system report.

copy what it says under Hardware Overview (Model Identifier, etc - not the serial #)

Then click on Bluetooth; you should get a similar screen:

    Post back what it says.
