My wife's had that same problem I held down power button and home button to hard reset and it fixed my wifes phone.

iPhone 4s problem solved by service.. They replaced my phone. No explanations or guidance given, just new phone. So if the basic fixes doesnt work - go and get your guarantee service and most likely new phone. Just my 0.002 cent worth..
(Just a side note - funny part is that the new phone has 6.0 iOS.. not 6.0.1)

ive tried everything and i went into apple and they said i have to wait to set up an appointment for a repair guy to check it out and im like i dont have timee to wait for this ********.
