Syncing is horrible

I am unable to sync my outlook (2011 for mac) with my iphone 4. I called apple and they told me it was not thier problem and i had to phone outlook. WELL reading many forums it appears that apple can in fact sync from outlook (as i tried to sync just from ical and that's not working either) so i'm looking for some help please.
