my ipad (with retina display,lighting to usb cable) charging problem

my ipad (with retina display,lighting to usb cable) wont charge i have tried everything said above.The problem started when it still had around 40% of juice left but now its totally empty. its been plugged to the wall for almost 2 hours and wont turn on.
