Q: is there a way to change my serial number so i can put in the correct one instead of having "systemserialnumb"

i have a mid 2006 mackbook. i bought it used on ebay and just replaced the HD and upgraded to snow leopeord a few days ago. i was wondering if there was a way to change the serial number to the correct one on the machine rather than having it read "systemserialnumb". any help would be greatly appreciated.

MacBook, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities

It looks like the logic board was replaced. The serial number is saved onto the logic board and it's not possible to change it. Simply ignore it, because you won't be able to recover the serial number on OS X. To find the serial number > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1366
