I dont know what it is and as I couldn't find aquat about it I tried solving it myself.

I initally was trying to restore someones iPhone as they had idioticly locked themselves out of it. I then tried installing it and got as far as the last part of the restore when error (-1) started popping up and apples help page just says "Disconnect the device and try restoring 2 more times, if this does not work your device may need servicing" which could of been written in the error msg box instead of error (-1) in the first place.

So I tried the installation again and again until eventually error (3193) pops up and as nothing online helped at all i did what was the first thing that came to mind and pull the SIM card out and try again and it worked to my amazment. So I guess somehow the SIM card may of interupted the restore procedure so hopefully that solves your question, perhaps a little late but only just had the problem.

And for reference was an iPhone 5.

Hope this helps even 6 months down the line 🙂

Hi Jammydodger,

Thanks for the tip. Looked everywhere for the 3193 restore error on the web for the iPhone 5. Bumped into this thread and your solution worked like a charm! Removing the SIM, restoring and then putting it back solved not only the restore error but also the app hanging waiting" status; the reason why I restored it in the first place.

Cheers! 😀
