Hi
Yes if You feed FC with same Codec as the kind of project You set up from start the need to render will be dramatically reduced - still some there but not at all as irritating.
What material do You use (Video Codec) ?
What kind of project did You set up in Easy Set-up from start ?
Yours Bengt W
how do you do that?
the materail i use is normaly 1080p 24fps or 720p 50fps and im not sure what Codec i use , but the cameras i use are the canon 550D and the gopro hero3
To check your settings:
Right click the Sequence icon in the Browser and select Item Properties, this is the Sequence specs.
Right click a CLIP in the Browser and select Item Properties, this is the clip specs.
Post screen shots or all of the info then we may be able to advise further.
Using FCE these two must match as BW describes, if not, render everything all the time.
You will most likely need to transcode your camera footage to match an FCE Easy Setup.
The Easy Setup selection governs the Timeline/Sequence properties.
Al
The reason this is happening is the clips you are using are H.264 codec. In addition they are 1080p24 and 720p50, neither of which FCE supports. FCE has never supported 24fps; and the only progressive modes it supports are 720p25 & 30. And the Sequence you are using is expecting Apple Intermdiate Codec 720p25. So things are all mismatched. That's why all the rendering is going on. FCE is trying to conform everything to Apple Intermediate Codec 1440x1080i
There are two choices:
how do you do that? can you give me step by step help!?
can you recommened any conversion software to change it to quicktime/apple intermediate codec
when you covert the footage do you lose the qualitly and the frame rates??
i have to use final cut express part of my media course!
Download Streamclip as suggested.
Import your file/s.
Export as Quicktime.
Setup the export from Streamclip to output AIC 1920 x 1080 use i25 for PAL or i30 for NTSC.

You won't have ProRes LT use AIC (Apple Intermediate Codec).
Al
so how do i came the frame rates for example some of my footage is 720p by 50fps, what if i don't want to change the fps? what is ProRes LT
To change the frame rate enter a number into the FRAME RATE: field.
If you don't changethe frame rate you will be back to where you started.
ProRes LT is a video codec that is similar to AIC.
FCE does not use ProRes LT.
FCE uses AIC (Apple Intermediate Codec)
In short the export from Streamclip must match the specs of an FCE Easy Setup.
Al
as you said the export has to match thes ettings in FCE esay set up,does it matter if the frame rates are different?
Absolutely.
If anything is different FCE will conform the clips to the Sequence settings.
Clips and Sequence MUST match or you will have to render everything.
Al
If you are editing this clip into the sequence with the sequence settings you posted above, then you need to create a new sequence which has a 1920x1080 frame size, and Pixel aspect of Square, and edit in that new sequence.
