Annotating in Keynote while presenting

I am trying to replace the SmartBoard in my classroom with an iPad and an HDTV as the resolution from my projector is poor. The only issue that is inhibiting my switch is the ability to play a keynote presentation and annotate slides as I'm lecturing. Is there anyway to do this in Keynote? Will there be a way in the near future? I would like to be able to do so without exporting into another application, if possible.

I do this frequently.

There's several choices of app. to do this, but my favourite for which I was a beta tester is Doceri, from SP controls, in South San Francisco.

They have an iOS app, and a desktop app, which together allows you to mirror your Mac's screen on your IPad, either in presenter mode or projector mode (what the audience sees).

In the latter you can annotate the slide showing with freehand tools or a set of shapes. There's also a library of pictures like maps available or you can use your iPhoto library.

You download both apps and sync over wifi, or is unavailable use adhoc mode. Around $50

No offense, taken although I did say I was a beta tester and there are other apps offering solutions out there.

At the moment the solution I offered works via keynote on the desktop, not on the iPad, so your pickup that KN for iPad and Doceri can't operate simultaneously is true. At the moment apple only offers a rudimentary laser pointer type adjunct on KN for iPad.

I don't know of a markup tool within keynote on the iPad for the OP's solution, so when I say I "do it all the time" I'm referring to annotating desktop Keynote. Sorry if this confused and got people's hopes up. Clearly apple still has some work to do to bring parity between the two forms of Keynote. My guess is until that can be achieved desktop Keynote will continue to stagnate in the service of iPad upgrading for greater power.
