iPhoto slows down due to high number of photos about 47k, 147 giga. Is there a solution for that?

Your problem may be hardware related. How much RAM does your machine have and what are the tech specs of your iMac??
One thing you can try is rebuilding the iPhoto libary, this may help too. Apple explains how in http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2638
It's OS X 10.7.5 version with 1 tera : that's why I am surprised

That's only tells me how much HD storage your computer has, what I'm looking for is:
RAM
Graphics cared installed
CPU installed
You can find most of this info by clicking the Apple symbol in the upper left of your display then click "About this Mac."
Memory 4 GB, Processor 3.1 GhZ, Graphics AMD Radeon HD 6970 M 1024 MB
I would recommend upgrading RAM to 8-12GB. Contact a reputable seller such as Crucial or www.macsales.comfor quality RAM. They can help you choose the right RAM for your machine, installation video is on macsales.com, it's a user serviceable part, if you can turn a screwdriver you can do the job.
Many thanks. I will try to buy tomorrow and will revert back.
Thank you rkaufmann87, you answer was the right one.😉
