Text typed out on phone which I didn't do!

OK, some real weirdness happened tonight which I haven't been able to figure out.

I was in an iMessage conversation with a friend, left the phone on the counter for a minute while I went to another room. No-one else had access to the phone at home. When I returned to the phone a minute later, the imessage conversation was still open but, freakily, there was a message typed out on my phone as if from me, waiting to be sent. (I can't believe I didn't take a screenshot).

The content of the message was what looked like a brief proverb of sorts or some wise saying, not in very good English, with the name/word 'Al-Maliki' finishing off the message. The only one of that name I know is the Iraqi PM. Neither I nor my friend have any interest in Iraqi politics or Islamic sayings. What I'm really perturbed about is that I didn't receive someone else's imessage; a message which appeared to be from me was typed out on my phone, waiting to be sent to my friend in the conversation we were having.

I've checked imessage settings and they're all ok. Nothing like this has happened before. Really freaked out by it all and, to top it off, the lights dimmed for a few seconds when I was out of the room and the whole street subsequently had a blackout....apart from our house. No joke.

I'm sure there is some sort of explanation for this but, right now, I don't think I'd comfortably be able to watch the Poltergeist movies!!

All the above is absolutely true (including the blackout bit which is clearly coincidence) and I'd really appreciate some insight into what could have caused this glitch/bug. Thanks in advance.

I found this thread this morning, as I had a strange message on my phone when I picked it up to get the time. The phone had been on charge overnight, and the last text I had sent was to a friend, but the message that was written was not a reply, but the next message due to be sent by me! Yet I hadn't typed it, and it was not typed by anyone else, as the phone was in a room were there was nobody else in the house ... the message read - 'Tree diseases b here' ... it's freaked the crap out of me, as I didn't write that, nobody else could have, and it makes no sense?

The same thing happened to me this evening one year later. I had earlier been texting someone and the thread was still open. When I went to use my phone there was a lot of weird phrases about the Hellespont. And exactly like you it was typed there waiting for me to send it. So I did. So I could keep a copy of the text. None of it made sense and it read like a spam email, but nobody could have typed it there. And it certainly wasn't me!

Really spooky. But no blackout!

I wonder what the connection is? Did it ever happen to you again Huck_B or did you find an explanation?

No, this never happened again. Looked up the old thread as I was relating the story to my mum and, looking back on it, it was ridiculously spooky!! I think the bit that really weirded us out was the fact that the rest of the street was out but we weren't and there's no reason for that to happen; in fact, other blackouts have affected the whole street, including us.
