Magnetic Cases: Is there a truth anywhere?

I've been wanting to buy a case for my iPod Touch 5th generation and have my eye on one... with a magnetic closure. I searched it up, but it keeps on going back and forth - one person says that theirs froze their iPod up, and another says that the magnet would have to be the size of a car to do any damage.

So does anybody actually know the truth?
