DV-PAL

How can I digitize to DV-PAL from original footage shot at 720p25? I cannot go firewire from a Panasonic 1200A deck. All it will let me do is digitize at DVC-PRO HD 720p60. But I want small files for a lengthy offline edit. I am working in fcp 5.04.

Mac G5, Mac OS X (10.4.6), Dual processor

You'll need to dub it to DV I'm afraid, but you might consider capturing chunks at full res, then using file/export QT movie and change the settings to offline HD... these files would be smaller than DV... You'd need to delete the originals to create more space, but it's doable, and there's a preset for 25fps material.

Good idea. The offline setting would reference the new Quick Time files so I could see them. Time consuming?

Actually the downconversion is really fast on my dual 2 gig machine... faster than real time.
