Email account not working since ML upgrade?

Hi folks,


I'm on 10.8.2, just upgraded this week from Lion.


One of my email accounts, from Teksavvy, isn't working. I didn't change any settings. The same account on my iPhone works without issue.

I've verified all the settings with the provider a number of times. Even retyped the information in. Nothing works.


I tried to create a new account with a 2 at the end to indicate it's a new account, but mail won't let me was it recognizes the account as being the same. grrr..


Thought about deleting the account, but I have a pile of saved emails (important ones..not fluff) which are in different folders and when I went to delete, the message came up that it would delete everything with it so I chickened out lol


I believe this is key: I ran connection doctor which reported the Teksavvy outgoingserver wouldn't connect.


Deleted that server and created a Teksavvy 2 outgoing server, whammo...it says it connects (it's green) yet the old one still shows up?


I exited mail and went back into prefs - accounts and edited servers and the original is still there (along with the new one) ?


Tried my other outgoings for 2 other accounts, but still no email.


Went back to new Teksavvy 2 and still no go.


Went into Keychain access and deleted both instances of smtp teksavvy server.


Opened Mail again. Still no go.


Any ideas?


Thanks in advance for reading and possibly helping me out. I'm going nuts.

I don't like when things work on one thing (iPhone), but don't on my MacPro. ie. doesn't make sense! lol

Hi Linc,


Sorry...I forgot to explain that yes, I did delete the original server, but when I ran connection doctor again, it still shows up with a red button.


The new outgoing server is on the list of available servers, plus also on the connection doctor, but with the green light that all is good.


Therefore, the original one seems to be tripping up the ability of my account to get its mail (at least I think?).


Also, I deleted the new server, got out of mail, went back in and created a new server, but it has the same results. 😟

I have delete the original server. It only shows up in the connection doctor.


ie. if I go to edit SMPT server list, there are only 3 available, icloud, host..(my website service) and the new Teksavvy. The original one doesn't exist.


It's like a ghost b/c if I go to the connection doctor, the previously 3 mentioned services work (all green), but the original server is red (yet I've deleted it). It's like the rude girlfriend who won't go away lol


I tried to look in library / preferences for the server plist (based an older article I saw about Lion), but couldn't quite figure it out.

I was having the same or a similar problem running 10.7.5. Since Teksavvy Webmail was working, the issue seemed to be Apple Mail. I saved the mailboxes, deleted the Teksavvy account from Mail, deleted related POP and smtp passwords for that account from Keychain, created a new account in Mail following the instructions on http://teksavvy.com/en/support/product/internet [do not let Mail do an auto setup, but manually follow the instructions], and imported the mailboxes. It worked. Why things just up and went wrong to begin with, I've no idea, but it is working again.
