How can I read 32 bit audio and convert it to 24 bit in Logic ?

Logic can't import 32 bit audio. You'll have to find another app that can convert them to 24 bits.

Ooops... Found the answer: in Logic the ony way to read 32 bit audio files is by converting them to 24 bit
Oops, correction: you _can_ import 32 bit files in Logic and convert them to 24 bit (through Audio Files > Copy/convert file(s)) but they won't play until you quit & reboot.
Really? They could have said so in the manual... well, glad you didn't have to look out for a conversion program...
With reboot, do you mean restart your Mac? Or just restart Logic?
Ah, wait, in the description for .caf files they offer what I can only GUESS is a vague pointer to 32 bit files, as "high bit depths":

Core Audio Format (CAF) files are containers that support integer and float PCM formats, A-law, u-law, and a number of others including AAC and the Apple Lossless Audio Codec (ALAC). Unrestricted file sizes are possible, at high sample rates andbit depths."
It could have been a tiny bit more explicit and clear...
Simply restart Logic.
BTW WaveBurner can read 32/96 files too but it must first convert them into 16/44.1, which it doesn't need to do with 24/48 files.

You can import 32b files in Logic and it autoconvert them to 24b with no problems. You must use add function in been !

I just did a convert from 32bit to 24bit and didn't have to restart Logic...
I simply loaded into bin.. did the convert.. using a different name for the output file..
Created a new audio track and dropped the new version of the file into it.. No restart needed..
Open files in media bin>drag files into arrange window>select all regions you wish to change from 32 to 24 bit>control-click on selected regions>convert audio files>save audio files to project folder>choose 24 bit>hit save.
I have tried importing 32 files in both Logic X and 9 with no results. If you go to audio bin and try to add the file it will not do it. After you add it, it will not show in the bin.
