No Sound on EarPhone MacbookPro (maybe after connecting Mac to LCD using HDMI?)

Hi Everyone,

I lost sound to my earphones on my MacBookPro 13 , i7, 2.8 Ghz, 4GB 1333Mhz DD3 as far as I can remember after connecting it to my Samsung LCD TV using minidisplay to HDMI ports. Any tip on how to get it back working?

I ve been using VLC and Quicktime...

Or after installing new IOS....not sure when or what happened...

I have no ideia, what to do, it simple does not recognize the earphones...but has sound with internal speakers, no problem here at all!

any tip?

Try plugging headphones in and out a few times, it that does not work try using a wooden toothpick and GENTLY "massage the jack, or you could use a Q-Tip with the end cut off. There is a micro switch that sometimes gets stuck. Hope this helps

Hi sanjampet,

Ive tried several times with the earphones, nothing happened. Then as you suggested tried to gently do it, i can see on top of the earphone plug a little metal tip up and down, but did not sort it out....

Any more tips?

Try going to system preferences>sound output tab, see if it is set to internal speakers, set Use audio port for sound output. If that does not do it, try going to utlilites>audio/midi set up, output tab and highlight built in output in the left column. ATB
