Theres afew things you can do when you have one computer and use 2 ipods on it, create another Windows user account on the PC for your lil girl, or set 2 playlist one for you one for her and have the iPods to auto update only those playlist. more on this can be found here http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=300432

Have you already got all the content that was in iTUnes before back yet or are you still working on that too?

Theymay not be lost, just not shown by itunes. Look for a album or song you imported off a CD by either going to My Music>iTunes>iTunes music folder and looking around or using the search feature in windows. If you find them on the PC, then something has happened to the iTunes Library file and you will have to recreate it. If you do not see your music on the PC, then we will show you ways of getting things off a iPod and back to the PC. In either case DO NOT hook neither ipod to the PC til you get iTunes str8ined out.

OK slightly confused, but long as you found all the imported/ripped CDs in the My Music folder, Like the actual songs, you will just recreate the library. but first what exactly do you mean when you say "as this has been deleted from my desktop"? What exactly have you deleted? If your talking about finding the songs and they are "Deleted" from the iTUnes Main Library, recreating the library will fix this. I'll show you how to do that in the next post. Want to be clear on whats going on before we go futher

OK - sorry, bit of a novice at the itunes/ipod thing.
First - I installed itunes, loaded cds, loaded nano and everything was OK.
Daughter got nano, and I tried to load her music/nano on the same itunes, unfortunately when i registered her nano it deleted mine, and the itunes disappeared from the desktop.
Now have situation where I have no itunes loaded + loads of songs on my nano + found the song files in "my music".
Should I just start again? + can I download content from my nano to itunes ?
+ still not clear on how you have 2 nanos on same itunes on same computer.

OK I'll try to be quick, I live on the east coast of the US its only 5 pm here so I know its late in the UK (About 10 PM) But anyways... If the actual program of iTUnes is gone, like no iTunes icons or an icon you click and nothing happens you will need to do a clean install of iTunes.

First goto control panel>add/remove in windows and remove or try to remove BOTH iTunes and quicktime if listed there. Now you will goto this link and roll down to the section "Clean up iTunes installer files on the computer" and follow the steps there. http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93976

After that disable any antivirus/security/norton/mcafee programs running in the system try (In other words any antivirus/security icons that show near the time clock in the bottom right corner of windows, rightclick and turn off/disable) and download/Install iTunes here http://www.apple.com/itunes/download.

After that post back and tell me if your songs are listied in iTUnes or if iTUnes is empty

I encountered the same problem and I solved it with minimal difficulty (this may be a soundabout way of doing it, but it's worked for me.):

1. Upload all of your music onto iTunes.
2. Create a playlist for your daughter's music.
3. Upload her music and put the files into the playlist you made.
4. When updating your iPod, uncheck all of your daughter's songs in the playlist. When she updates her iPod, she can uncheck the Library and check the playlist.

NOTE: This can only be done if you go to iPod Settings and click "Only Update Checked Songs."
ALSO NOTE: The large amounts of songs can be easily selected by clicking Edit and Select All (hotkey: Ctrl+A).

As I said before, this probably isn't the best answer, but I know it's worked for me. Thanks,
