Q: iMac C2D 24" NVIDIA 256 MB with graphic problems. Apple says "throw it away"

I wrote this email last week. A very nice guy from Appel contacted me for nothing: If your computer has more than five years, Apple does not support parts.

This is the email:

Hello,

I´m Víctor López, an Apple heavy user for work and for pleasure, from Spain.

My family: iMac white 24", Macbook Pro, Cinema Display 30", iPad 1, Apple TV, Time Capsule (yes, the one that fails), iPhone 4, iPod Classic, iPod Hi-Fi, a lot of Apple Keyboards and Mighty and Magic Mouses...  well, what I would say is that I always trust in Apple. I always LOVE Apple´s pieces of art.

One of my best beloved computers is the White 24" C2D iMac with the NVIDIA 7600 (256 MB). I bought it 5 years ago and I use it for design with Illustrator and Fireworks. And it was great, until now. I heard that this model had problems with the graphic card, but I didn´t want to believe it. But a few days ago it crashed... by the graphic.

I live in Valencia (Spain), where Apple inaugurated a year ago a Significant Apple Store (at last!!). I went with my iMac 24" to the Store in a taxi.

The Genius check it and said me that was the graphic, but Apple can´t do anything because "the system" says that. He told me that my computer was 5 years and a few months old and there isn´t pieces for repair the iMac.

I told him that it couldn´t be true. This was an official fail and not´s my fault. And what did he means with the 5 years and what by this reason there isn´t pieces??!! What does he want me to do? Throw it like garbage?

It´s a MAC!!  I bought it for work!!! It isn´t an "old hardware" like a PC...and I love my White Mac!!

Otherwise, i was thinking of buying  the new Retina, but ¿if it crashes in 5 years and a month...?

Excuse my anger, but this is not what I expected from Apple.

Regards,

Víctor.
