piano roll dialog box bug(9.1.8)

since upgrading to logic 9.1.8 from9.1.5) with any previous songs loaded ,the pitch/velocity information in the yellow dialog box is missing.I think apple have added an extra box on the top left of the PR window which whilst moving the mouse displays pitch, however this great new feature now means I have to recreate all my very detailed specific screen sets, save in a song ,then re import them to every song I've ever worked on just to work in piano roll with the correct information displayed.

1.create new project, all fine

I am unable to produce what you are seeing....

Using 9.1.8 and 10.8.2, opening projects saved in 9.0.2, 9.1.2, 9.1.5, 9.1.6 and 9.1.8... all show the same dialog box here...

Testing with my SL 10.6.8 and 9.1.8 testbed computer produced the same results as with ML...

Could this be an issue with the earlier version of Leo (10.5.6) you are using.. conflicting in some way with 9.1.8?

I no longer have a Leo testbed computer so i cannot check it for you.... but something odd is going on, for sure...

Btw,, you do realise that the min requirements for Logic Pro 9 are 10.6.8 or later?

That being said, as your sig indicates you are still using Leo... if you are having issues running Leo and 9.1.8... then that's not surprising.... as they did do some changes to the use of Cocoa between 9.1.5 and 9.1.8 so that could be why you see this anamaly as Leo probably doesn't fully support such changes...hence the change in requirements to 10.6.8

Indeed.. I was just updating my last post to reflect this as I sort of remembered something about it.. and then saw your post....which confirmed my suspicions...

I don't know about Leo and 9.1.7 or 9.1.8 as I can't test that here any longer since getting rid of my old Leo testbed system... Maybe you can't install from fresh but can update manually? ...or as you said, maybe the OP hasn't updated his sig.... 🙂

Thanks for the reply,re SL the older songs with screen sets etc were in SL 10.6.5 , LP9.1.5 so not that much difference. If your like PM me and il send you my "old" auto load minus plugs etc.Perhaps if I created my auto load/screen sets from Leopard days and just built it up from there ,maybe a conflict, but it wasn't an issue in 9.1.5.Although a small detail its quite a bugger!.Il keep experimenting Il make a song on my mac book form sctratch(10.6.5/9.1.3) and see if I get the same results-I got other issues on like analog factory crashing songs on load and refiting memory eyc -but thanks for checking out

Ahh sorry folks, out of date signature -I was on Snow Leopard 10.6.5 running LP 9.1.5 without issue.

The display bug comes as soon as I import screen sets or songs into LP 9.1.8. from the previous set up ( which may have older roots ,so to speak )Maybe I should have upgraded chronologically.Still I cant be the only dude on the planet with this-we're always told to upgrade etc.

Okay.. so this is interesting....

In the project the OP sent me, if I open it directly in 9.1.8 and 10.8.2 I see the same anomaly.. However, if i import the tracks into a new 9.1.8 project I do not see these anomalies.. so there is certainly something weird going on...

What's odder.. is that i can open my own 9.1.5 projects in 9.1.8 and I do not see this issue at all...

As for what is causing this.. I'm at a loss... as i cannot recreate it my end on any of my setups...

For example, I created a project on my 10.6.8 setup using Logic Pro 9.1.5... saved the project and then opened it in 9.1.8 on my 10.8.2 setup and it works without issue.. no anomalies.. so it has to be connected with some setting (I checked all the project settings i could and compared them to my project settings and they are identical..) or something else.. maybe an ext controller issue though that seems unlikely...

Anyhow.. if anyone else can try this out, it would help...

Thank you folks ,something corrupt somewhere,perhaps...

It seems narrowed down to screen sets or settings

If I import old settings ( LP9.1.5/SL 10.6.5) into LP 9.1.8 the problem arises.

However If I import screen sets or settings from the NEWLY CREATED def logic song (9.8.1/)into an old one the problem is resolved!!

Oh well, a day re making all my default settings and importing them into my old songs !!

I like screen sets ,even if Apple doesn't -there is another bug (even in 9.8.1)not fixed in three years!!!!

1 .Select txt only from the tool bar menu

2. Create 2 screen sets (ie just copy 1 to 2 )

3 Lock the screen sets.

4.Moving between sets now causes screen draw delay at bottom of screen

Hi,

I've just encountered this issue/bug. Been running Logic 9.1.8 in OS 10.6.8 without any problems. Loading songs created over the past few years and having no issue with the piano roll Help Tag.

I've just noticed that the note pitch and volume info is now missing in the Tag on any song I load except if I create a new empty song.

I think the issue started when I tried opening an old song which wouldn't open in LP9 as it was too old so I opened it in LP7 which forced me to quit LP9 then i resaved and opend in LP9. The song is fine except now there is the bug.

If you re-boot and relaunch Logic the bug is still there on my autoload and every other song except a new empty project. Any work rounds?

Thanks.
