Why does it take so long for me to dl anything

Just recently in the last couple weeks when ever i try to Download anything like updates or try to load a youtube vidoe it takes hours for me to get them to stream or download. I reset my internet and loading pages is super fast. I just have problems with trying to stream youtube videos or downloading updates. Its getting really frustrating when i cant even watch a video. Thanks

This was my first instinct as well. However, it can also be a software issue. all SpeedTest.net is, is a user-run script which downloads a large package and then measures the length it took to download. This doesn't tell you what the problem IS, only that there is a problem somewhere between your GUI, and the far-end server. Several hundred variables are laying between the two end-points.

250kilobits/second as shown by SpeedTest.net actually translates to about 31kilobytes/second download speed. Most webpages are very small and are only around 5k - 150kb, therefore they dont take much to stream. Try running SpeedTest.net on one of the other machines in the house and see if you get the same lowsy result. If you do, then you need to call your ISP (Internet Service Provider) and tell them you have lost partial-service with your internet. If you get a normal speed, then a different problem has taken place with the machine itself.
