Question

2000 pictures on desktop. Computer is now SUPER slow!

So the other day I was trying to transfer my 5000 photos onto my USB stick by dragging them from iphoto to my USB file. Accidently I clicked on my background and about 2000 of the photos got transfered onto my desktop instead. By the time I realized where it actually got transfered to, it was too late and 2000 was already transfered.

Now the issue is the computer is SO slow that when I log in it wont even let me delete them. Because, when I log in the loading wheel just keeps turning. I let it "warm up" for over an hour once so that I could delete it but nothing. It just freezes like that.

So how do I delete it? It's on my adminstrator account too. So i cant even delete the account either. Help?

MacBook, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)

Try logging in as another user. Then use Finder to go to /Hard Drive/Users/YourName/Desktop and delete them.

Empty Trash

Reboot

Be Happy to have a Mac fast again.

How do I find the hard drive? My finder simply shows Air drop, Desktop, Applications, and Documents. Nothing about Hard drive.

In the menu bar there is a go option. Click go then select computer. It will pull up a window with the drive in it. Double click the drive and follow my steps. Sorry I am on SL here. The disk is in Finder in SL

It wont allow me to open the desktop file. It says i don't have permission. I set the account Im using as the Administrator account, yet it won't open? Same goes for all the other accounts on the computer.

Ok navigate to the folder "desktop" itself and right click "Get Info". At the bottom it will say sharing and permissions. Click the lock if locked and set the account to read and write.

Your welcome. We all have moments like, hmm shouldn't have done that. Make sure you empty the trash, because 2000 photos can surely take some space in the trash.
