If I nest clips inside a series of folders, will they retain keywords for each folder?
Eg: If folder structure is "California/Beach/clip01.mov", and I import the "california" folder, will clip01.mov have both the "california" and "beach" keywords, or just "beach"?

It should have both keywords, unless the behavior has changed recently.
As I thought- but just tested this and it appears not to work...
I am going to the import window, selecting the top level folder, hitting import. The dialouge box comes up, and I make sure "Import Folders as Keyword Collections" is selected. Then I Import and only get the keywords associated with the lower level folders...
I checked this in 10.0.3 and 10.0.5. It has changed, not for the better. I hope they change it back. I don't think it's supposed to work like this.
I am having this same issue FCPX 10.0.7. Is there a fix or workaround that anyone is aware of?
This is quite disappointing. I had left FCPX on the side for some months and decided to come back to it.
And upon importing clips in a new event, trying to use the nested folders strategy to create a keyword collection, the thing just does not work. ;-(
