So I just received my new 2012 iMac and for some reason I just can't get the mirroring to work. When I go to displays it says "No Devices Detected" and I made sure to turn the Airplay on the Apple TV on as well.
Has anyone experienced this? I don't really know how I should go about troubleshooting in this situation, not sure if it's my computer or the Apple TV, or just a setting I missed. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!
Are both devices on the same network? Is your Apple TV up to date? What is it running?
I assume the iMac is up to date as it was just received but may as well check.

Thanks for the response. My Apple TV is the newest version and it has been updated so it says there are no further updates. I did a full software update on the iMac once I got it, and there are no further updates that need to be installed.
They are both on the same wifi connection and sitting literally 1 foot from one another.
Are you able to use airplay and home-sharing through iTunes ?
Did you check the link for troubleshooting ?

This is happening to me too. My iMac is not far from both my Apple TV and my modem. Don't know what is going on.
I have a MacBook Air 2011 with all software updated and I can't seem to get iTunes to mirror with my brand new Apple TV either.
iTunes uses basic airplay, that's separate from mirroring. If you're not seeing the airplay logo in iTunes there may be something on your network preventing it
