I opened an attachment on the FedEx phishing scam that was going around this holiday season. I am up to date on all software updates. How susceptable is my Mac? Anything else I should do?

Good. That is all you needed to do, so no worries.
It was a pathetic phishing scam that will either direct you to a malicious website or something else that will attempt to convince you to reveal personal information. As a rule you should never click on links in an email for this reason.
Phishing attempts cannot be detected by anything. Only your own common sense can prevent you from volunteering personal information to total strangers.
This one was lame, but the scam artists are getting better so be vigilant.

I'm a recent victim of this scam. I really am waiting for a parcel and I got duped by this one. It opened Chrome but it showed something like a 404. I ran ClamXav and it showed no infected files were found. Is that good enough?

What happened when the attachment opened? Did a Safari (Firefox, Chrome etc) window appear, and what did you do then?
It took me too some site that Safari said server not recognized and I immediately clicked off as it occurred to me - how stupid I was too have done it

Yes. Revealing personal information was the threat. You didn't do that.
